Time to swtich to Firefox

- by Tobias Gårdhus

Google chrome have recently updated their extension policy and implementation, making some third party extensions such as uBlock Origin unusable.

While I have personally made the switch to Firefox a long time ago, I suggest you do the same if you want to enjoy an add-free experience, and in general value your privacy.

However, these changes are actually not the reason for this short post. One missing feature / bug has haunted Firefox for at least ten years, but a fix was finally committed and patched in Firefox 133, which finally enables you to escape the focus from the url bar by pressing Esc in Firefox. Currently, it hides behind a feature flag, so go to about:config and set browser.urlbar.focusContentDocumentOnEsc to true to enable it.

Very handy if you like navigating the web with your keyboard (shout out to vimium).
